Sixty-plus years in, the Rolling Stones are still making records that top the charts. Their new album Foreign Tongues hit No. 1 in the U.K. this summer, and “Sympathy for the Devil” sits at No. 2 on our Classic Rock chart. The world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band, still earning the title.

- No tour this year. A planned 2026 U.K. and European stadium run was called off in December 2025. Mick Jagger said in July 2026 that he hopes to tour in 2027.
- Black and Blue turned 50 in April 2026.
Station picks: the Rolling Stones songs to start with
Our five essentials:
- (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction (1965). Keith’s fuzz riff, written in a hotel room, still the ultimate rock ‘n’ roll hook.
- Sympathy for the Devil (1968). That samba groove and those “woo-woos.” No. 2 on our chart right now.
- Gimme Shelter (1969). Merry Clayton’s vocal turns it into the scariest song in rock.
- Paint It Black (1966). Brian Jones on sitar and a whole lot of attitude.
- Start Me Up (1981). The riff that opened a thousand stadium shows.
Three deep cuts worth your time:
- Moonlight Mile (1971). The gorgeous, string-laden closer of Sticky Fingers.
- Can’t You Hear Me Knocking (1971). A riff, then a jam that just keeps going.
- Shine a Light (1972). A gospel-soaked gem from Exile on Main St.
